About the program
The Pangborn Innovative Learning Lab is an Encore class providing opportunities for kids to embrace creativity, hands on learning, and computer programming, with a focus on teamwork and fostering individual differences.. The Innovation Lab is a mix of a MakerSpace and enrichment of the content coursework students do in the general education classroom. The hope is that this classroom environment and its activities continue to evolve to engage all Pangborn students in making, creating, and innovating.
Our children are now growing up in a world where technology is at their fingertips. From when they start elementary school, they are preparing themselves for careers that we may not even realize yet. A focus of the program is to get kids interested in engineering and technology, learn how to use it and program it to understand what it is they are using. Instruction is planned according to the Maryland and National CSTA standards and support the Common Core Math Standards, Next Generation Science Standards and Core Math Practices as well as the specific needs of our students.
